Abstract
Objective of the research is to analyze the main directions of reforming the higher education system of the Russian Federation, the main problems and prospects for their implementation in the context of the strategy for strengthening the national security of the country.
The methodological basis of the research consists of systematic, dialectical, comparative historical and other methods and approaches that allowed the authors to determine the role and place of higher education in the system of social institutions, to establish the nature of the relationship and interaction between education and national security of the country, to explore the features of national strategies in the field of transformation of higher education systems in Russia and other states, the evolution of reform higher education.
Results of the study. The transformation of the Russian higher education at the present stage should be aimed at creating a more flexible and adaptive system designed to provide high-quality education that meets the needs of the modern labor market. At the present stage of educational reform, attention is focused on the practical component of the functioning of the university education system: it provides for the need for more active interaction, cooperation of domestic universities with various organizations, enterprises, government agencies, which is necessary to ensure students' access to professional practice, real projects that can be implemented in production. Reforming the higher education system in modern Russia is not an end in itself, but an objective necessity in conditions of socio-economic instability and uncertainty, constantly changing external environment, being, ultimately, aimed at strengthening the national security of the country.
Research рerspectives. The problem of reforming modern Russian higher education needs in-depth analysis in order to identify promising ways and means to improve the efficiency of the functioning of domestic universities in the context of the implementation of the strategy to strengthen the national security of the Russian Federation.
