Abstract
Objective of the study is to introduce readers to the IV All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Mediation in Russia: status, trends, development problems” held at the Southern Federal University, which is evidence of significant interest in the educational, scientific, practical aspects of alternative methods of conflict resolution and attention to negotiation processes in disputes.
The methodological basis of the study consists of an analysis of academic literature and reviews of the observations conducted, cultural and sociological, combined with critical analysis and comparison.
Results of the study. The study of various extra-judicial methods of conflict resolution reaches a new level of understanding the importance of conflictology and communication studies in the modern world. These scientific and academic areas of specialization are formed as basic social and humanitarian practices that create conditions for reducing social tension and rooting a non-violent philosophy of dispute resolution. This article illustrates the development of the use of mediation in Russia, the training of specialists in its implementation in mass practice and image promotion in the market of educational and conflict resolution services.
Research рerspectives. Currently, Russia has a stable practice of holding scientific and practical conferences, round tables with an agenda for discussing mediation from the point of view of exchanging experience of specialists who use it in conflict resolution, training specialists, etc. The conference, which is organized on the basis of the Southern Federal University, differs from these scientific and practical events in that it attracts a large number of university researchers with a wide geography of their representation, practitioners and students studying conflictology, pedagogy, sociology, and jurisprudence. This gives reason to believe that this form of popularization of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms will become increasingly popular and the effectiveness of its application will grow. Obviously, the practical orientation of the conference yields its results.
