Abstract

Objectives of the study are 1) to identify the significance of the historical component (historical memory, historical past) in the estimates of the residents of the DPR and the LPR at the level of civic values that are personally important to the respondents; 2) to identify the consolidating significance of the historical component at the level of personal connection of the respondents with the community of Russian citizens; 3) to identify the consolidating significance of the historical component at the level of the community of Russian citizens without personal reference to the respondent. The methodological basis of the study: 1) a method for identifying the most significant civic values from the list (including the historical component – historical memory, continuity of generations); 2) a method for identifying the most significant factors personally consolidating the respondent with Russian citizens from the list (including the historical component (historical past); 3) identifying the most significant factors consolidating Russian citizens, without personal reference to the respondent from the list (including the historical component – common history and historical memory). The authors compare the place occupied by the historical component in these three perspectives of the civic community: personal civic values of a single representative of the civic community; factors consolidating a single representative of the civic community with the citizens of Russia; factors consolidating the civic community as whole. The results of the study: 1) historical memory as a civic value does not have great significance for the residents of the DPR and the LPR at the personal level; 2) the importance of the historical component increases at the level of the respondent's personal connection with the civic community; 3) the value of the historical component acquires maximum importance at the level of assessing the consolidating factor of Russian citizens without personal reference to the respondent; 4) there is a trend: the smaller the respondent's personal connection with the civic community, the higher the value of the hysterical component for this community in the opinions of the DPR and the LPR respondents; 5) there is a contradiction: the historical component has less significance as a personal civic value than as a consolidating factor of Russian citizens. Prospects of the study. The results of the study can be used in sociological studies of civic values of Russians, factors of consolidation of Russian citizens, civic values and civic identity of citizens of new subjects of Russia.
