Abstract

Objective of the study is to deep the understanding of the urgency of the applicability and semantic content of the concept “ethnic niches” when describing the types of social interaction of people of different nationalities through the analysis of scientific articles by foreign researchers for the period 2001-2024. The methodological basis of the study includes methods of qualitative content analysis. The results of the study. The focus of foreign researchers studying the phenomenon of “ethnic niches” is focused on the inclusion of immigrants in economic relations of their place of residence. We also conclude that, unlike  Russian scientific space, the concept of “ethnic niche” is widely included in the foreign scientists’ view. Most researchers from different countries rely on the concept of ethnic niches published in the late 1990s (R. Waldinger et al.). Prospects of the study. The results of the primary analysis on the relevance of using the concept “ethnic niche” and its content expand the scope of its applicability. The noted differences in the study of this phenomenon in Russian and foreign scientific field leave room for discussion and search for an accurate definition of this concept, taking into account not only modern conditions, but also territorial features.
