Abstract
Objective of the study is to analyze the ideological and civilizational specifics of political consciousness.
The methodological basis of the study are socio-cultural and civilizational approaches, as well as the provisions of the theory of political culture by G. Almond and S. Verba.
The results of the study. Political consciousness is a historically and civilizationally conditioned projection of the established model of political relations. The world picture and value systems form a model of perception of socio-political reality and personal attitude to the institution of political power. Political consciousness not only reflects political reality, but creates it on the basis of values, ideals and norms that prevail in a particular society and legitimize its political structure.
Prospects of the study. The problem of political consciousness is of scientific and practical interest due to the need to consider its cultural and civilizational specifics, which determine the functioning of political institutions in a society.
