Abstract
Objective of the study is the analysis of the perception of the Special Military Operation (SMO) among students of Russian universities as an indicator of public sentiment among young people.
The methodological basis of the study. The study is basedonempiricaldataobtainedduring a surveyconductedamongstudents of Russianuniversitiesin2024andauthor's researchconducted in2024-2025.Weanalyzethelevel of support,information sourcesandfactorsshaping the attitudestoward the SMO,aswell as the differencesaccording togender,region,specialtyand theform of study.
The results of the study. The authors attempt to identify the main trends and contradictions in the interpretation and assessment of military and political events by young people. Special attention is paid to the information sources, the level of trust in state institutions, patriotic sentiments, as well as the influence of the SMO on their personal values and life plans.
Prospects of the study. This work will be useful in the educational process of young people, in the development of patriotic educational programs, and in the formation of an informed civic position.
