Abstract

Objective of the study is to examine two illusions that often arise in communication when it comes to love. The authors proceed from the fact that love is the most important value, and it is highly undesirable to confuse with love completely different types of relationships that bring a person with short–term joy and subsequent bitter disappointment. Methodological basis of the study the authors rely on the developments of humanistic philosophy and psychology of the twentieth century, in particular, E. Fromm and A. Maslow. A less obvious methodological source, however, present in the work, is G.V.F. Hegel with his idea of "the conformity of an object with its idea." In this case, the "idea of love", its ideal formulated by E. Fromm, this ideal, with which real relationships are compared, is love, understood not only as a feeling, but as an active relationship, taking into account the subjectivity and autonomy of the beloved. What is called in the article "illusory representations of love" is in sharp contrast to love as caring for and benefiting a loved one and accepting him as a real independent subject. Results of the study. The article examines, firstly, the illusion of "I am loved", which, as the authors show, referring to the opinions of twentieth-century philosophers (J.-P. Sartre, J. Lacan), is associated with the desire to eliminate at all costs the inner existential and spiritual deficiency inherent in man. The authors of the article do not fully share this position about the "initial inferiority" of an individual, but recognize that the greedy desire to "lean on another" for the sake of  a sense of their own integrity provokes people to create illusions that "they are loved" when there is no question of love. Secondly, the "I love" illusion is considered, when one confuses one's own uncontrollable passion or admiring a fictional image far from a real person with love. Prospects of the study is to address many other illusions of love, some of which are named at the end of the article.
