Abstract
In the article the impact of the institution of higher education in the process of concentration of social capital of youth is examined. The motivations of Russian young people in obtaining higher education are analyzed. It is emphasized that with the concept of «social capital» the contribution of the student youth in the processes of social reproduction can be measured effectively. The authors agree that in modern Russian society there is an actual decline of the role of higher education as a factor of upward mobility, which is caused by the stratification model of "closed society."
