Abstract
Modernization is intuitively connected positevely - it is being seen as a process of changes that allows to achieve a state in every area that is better than the one we started with. Hovewer it is not always the case with areas of science, economy and politics. Not always are the modernization attempts perceived as desirable and not always does the lack of modernization lead do negative consequences, and finally the modernization attempts that were executed are not always seen as ripe in positive results. A good example of a partial and delayed modernization, the modernization of polish banking sector - its reasons and its outcome is the theme of the following article.
