Abstract
The article deals with the formulation and actuality of the problem of social amnesia in the subject area of social and philosophical reflection. It is shown that the phenomenon of social amnesia is ontologically inscribed in the social reality and is the most pronounced in periods of social and cultural crises. Refinement of the theoretical foundations and the identification of the problem field of research of social amnesia in the socio-cultural practices of reception of the past are determined by the fact that social memory is gaining prominence in the case of categorical and conceptual systems, describing the specific manifestations of social reality.
