Abstract

In the article the example of represen­tations of femininity in the images of the literary characters of the Anton Chekhov is the reconstruction of the state of the gender system of Russian society in the early twentieth century. Based on the works of Anton Chek­hov, which are characterized by poly- semous and lack of general ideas, re­produced the structure of women's gendered practices that took place in the early twentieth century.
