Abstract
The paper considers the issues connected with the language policy and its decisions in different regions and different historical periods. At the turn of the third millennium there appeared new approaches in solving the problems of language policy, e. g. ecolinguistics. The article shows that currently there is a series of works, calling special attention to the role of subjective factors in the formation and implementation of the language policy. Proponents of this approach try to grasp the essence of the problem at the level of pragmatic - values the goals, motivations, attitudes. This way of conceptualizing reality determines its ontological and epistemological status in terms of meanings and values.
