Abstract
The article analyzes the problem of self-affirmation of human spiritual culture as an ontological ground of the anthropological and social experience. The author examines the role of the imagination in the process of values and meanings creation, based on Boris Vysheslavtsev's and Yuri Boroday's theories. Based on the works of C.G.Jung and his followers the author explains the sense of the concept “active imagination”. The difference is that, Vysheslavtsev develops the concept, common with Jungian psychoanalytic tradition, and a metaphysical line, which recognizes the leading role of "I" identity structure, but Boroday underlines the impossibility of converting the original material of an experience.
