Abstract

Patriotism, emerging in the space of a particular historical time and expressed in the ideas, values, attitudes and behavior of different generations has both static and dynamic characteristics. The first (static) form “the core” of patriotism, which allows to maintain it through time as a value constant and vital for the functioning of a society, and reflecting mental nature and civilizational specifics and trajectory of historical development peculiar for particular society. The second characteristics (dynamic) of patriotism reflect the specifics of the differences and trends of changes that are fixed in the society and can be measured either in generational perspective, that gives the opportunity to find out the generational specificity of patriotism in the society, or in the time that allows to determine the nature of the changes in relation to patriotism and estimate the amplitude of its dynamics through time. The study is based on the generational approach. The specificity and stability / instability of the static and dynamic characteristics of patriotism in Russian society are revealed.
