Abstract
The article offers an entropic approach to the study of the strengthening of the ethnic factor role in Russia after the collapse of the USSR. The analysis of the situation in the 80-90s of the XX century, showes that the ethnic factor played an important role in the collapse of the USSR. Subsequently, the ethnicity, which initially contributed to the emergence of national cultural movements, turned into a powerful political force and became a political elites’ tool of struggle for power. The result of this struggle, which contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union, became a source of disintegration and growth of entropic processes in the post-Soviet space of Russia for a long time.
