Abstract
The article shows that under the influence of the processes of globalization, the nature and content of the scientific knowledge changes significantly, its important component acquires a global character. The conflicts of local and global knowledge lead to cultural gaps and social traumas, and knowledge itself proves to be a subject to more complex non-linear dynamics. The history of the formation of non-linear knowledge in sociology, its modern forms and trends are analyzed. Particularly the author analyzes the impact of metamorphoses on the formation of modern non-linear knowledge. The dynamics of knowledge entails a change of trust to it. Social and cultural factors of the transition from the unconditional belief in scientific knowledge to the degree of trust to it are traced. There discussed the challenges to the trust to non-linear knowledge which are associated with the preservation of positivist thinking, the vulnerabilities of theoretical monism, and the emergence of scientific non-knowledge. The author connects the overcoming of these challenges with the transition from positivist to non-linear thinking, popularizing the achievements of modern science with an emphasis on disclosing the essence of innovative research methods, increasing the importance of glocal knowledge as a result of national and regional social studies schools, the overcoming of utopian and historically limited components in knowledge, the realization the humanistic turn not only in social, but in all sciences.
