Abstract

The article examines the influence of municipal ownership on competitiveness of municipal formations in Russia. Municipal property is the economic basis of local self-government, which allows it to perform economic and social functions. Special attention is paid to the definition of management tools, with which the attempts to enhance the competitiveness of the territory were made. The authors reveal the contradictions associated with the use of management practices that do not meet the institutional matrix of Russian civilization. The authors propose the main goals and directions of management of municipal property in the Russian Federation linked to the concept of ownership developed by the representatives of the Russian economic school.
