Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of methodological grounds for the research the ethno-cultural education in the sociological discourse. The analysis of this concept allows the authors to identify a number of disciplinary approaches which are used to determine the specificity, structure and role of the ethno-cultural education in the modern world. The focus is made on cultural, pedagogical, cross-cultural and sociological aspects. The author comes to the conclusion that the the ethno-cultural education is only becoming the subject of sociological research, which determines the theoretical relevance and practical significance of the research of the specifics of the ethno-cultural education and its role in the process of the civil culture formation in Russian multi-ethnic society.
