Abstract
The main problems for innovative activity in Russia are described in the article. The impact of innovation on the country's GDP is estimated. The comparison of innovation activity in Russia with leading innovatively active countries of the world is conducted, including costs incurred and results obtained. The conclusion is that there are some elements of an innovation system in Russia and it needs to improve Russia's innovation policy in terms of creating the non-raw growth points.
