Abstract

The article analyzes the gender aspects of power in terms of the change and mutual struggle of cultural formations, such as matriarchy and patriarchy. The author stand on the following idea: the causes of the destruction of the ancient matriarchy and the approval of patriarchal culture, and also the struggle for power of the sexes is analyzed in the terms of anthropological transformations of the Modern Age. It is demonstrated that power as a special cultural and anthropological reality not only absorbs gender differences, but actively uses them in the interests of strengthening its own domination. In the conclusion of the article the author underlines that the struggle for total gender equality, aimed at leveling gender differences, can lead to the problems of sexual identity and the excesses of androgyny.
