Abstract

This article examines the potential and role of new media, in particular social networks in constructing of discursive identity. The author conducts content analysis of large communities dedicated to the social and professional group of doctors in the social network “VKontakte” and draws conclusions about the prevailing communication practices and functions of such communities in professional communications and designing the image of the profession.
