Abstract

The article touches upon one of the possibilities for overcoming intercultural conflicts which inevitably arise in the collision of different civilizations because of the fact that the globalization process has a great influence on both sociocultural and national aspects of the world development. The author of the article, considering the phenomenon of globalization as a result of the interaction of civilizations and cultures, at the same time emphasizing that the cultural and spiritual universal human values make the basis for any civilization, concludes that one of the factors contributing to the achievement of mutual understanding between representatives of different cultures can be political elites addressing to the whole variety of universal and national values. An analysis of the factual material reveals that: 1) both the dialogue and interaction of cultures are necessary for the progressive development of mankind in spite of the obvious confrontation of national interests, increased social tensions and political instability in the world; 2) the dialogue of cultures and civilizations, as an inseparable part of the general globalization world process, requires special responsibility from representatives of all the levels of interaction, especially from political elites, as persons expressing the national interests of their peoples and the richness of their country's cultures at a certain stage of their historical development; 3) along with their own specific moral, religious and spiritual values, each linguocultural society has a number of common human values, including family, patriotism, unity of a nation, faith in people; 4) universal human values, as universally recognized factors determining people's behavior, penetrate the whole picture of the world, contribute to the development of a dialogue of cultures and civilizations and are extremely important for maintaining stability and peace in the XXI century.
