Abstract
The article discusses the methodological basis for the study of family opportunities to act as a factor of social inequality in the context of its typological characteristics. For this purpose, two basic concepts are introduced: “social resources of the family” and “quality of family communication”, which are interpreted in the framework of the concept of family capital J. Coleman. On the basis of the presented concepts, formal and informal social indicators are distinguished, which makes it possible to empirically study the role of the family in the reproduction of social inequality on the basis of a multifactor approach.
