Abstract

The article deals with the problem of the role of the basic university as a subject of regional development in the Strategy of Social and Economic Development of the Rostov Region. It is emphasized that to become the leader of the new economy is the stated goal of the Strategy for the Rostov region. In this terms, the university acquires the role of a center for social, technological, and intellectual innovations, realizing investment projects and forming research and production clusters. The author of the article concludes that the successful implementation of the mission of the basic university requires the interaction of the basic university and regional structures of state government in the mode of continuous cooperation, attracting the university to examine and develop the regional projects, introduce innovative management and support the training of specialists for the new economy.
