Abstract

The publication considers the views of Yu. A. Zhdanov on the Caucasus, the need for cultural study of this region, especially the Russian-Caucasian interaction. The geographical, historical, economic, cultural, spiritual uniqueness of the Caucasus is revealed. The posed questions are extremely relevant both in theoretical and practical terms, they provide a deep understanding of the whole Caucasian subject. The key idea of his analysis is the recognition of the Caucasus for the Russian intelligentsia as a phenomenon inspiring them to work, giving new impulse to the development of a culture of Caucasian-Russian understanding and cooperation.
