Abstract
The article is devoted to the definition of the concept of ecological culture. The synthetic nature of this concept is noted, in the semantic field of which the ecologically developed consciousness, emotional and mental states and practical activity of the subject are combined. The main semantic characteristics of the concept of “ecological culture” are revealed: understanding of the active subjective role of man in changing natural processes; the growth of the detachment of human society from natural processes; recognition the existence of an environmental crisis as the accumulation of irreversible effects of the impact of human activity on natural processes; the predominant attitude in the incompatibility of the scales of nature and culture. The situation of the ecological crisis and the need to construct a sociocultural model of ecological culture arises as an element of the holistic mechanism of sociocultural self-preservation. The paradoxical value shift in modern culture from the pragmatic attitude of society to nature to aesthetic resulted in ecological crisis is shown.
