Abstract

It is not the first time in the last 25 years that the issue of social consolidation and the search for its ideological foundations has been raised in Russia, but each time the effect of its solution was short-lived and did not solve the main problem – a qualitative breakthrough of the country and a way out of the crisis. The development of Russian society along a global trajectory related to consumer society and consumer ideology becomes a significant barrier to a genuine and time-consuming, strategically built and well-resourced social consolidation of society, since the consumer model of consciousness and behavior contains an acute deficit of subjectivity and criticality as the basis for self-organization and self-reproduction of consolidation processes. Russia urgently needs an alternative to social development, which would limit the influence of the ideology of the consumer society, but this ideology is beneficial  to certain social forces – it acts as a tool for constructing attitudes, needs and behavior patterns in society, and a mechanism for managing social processes, including consolidation, as consumption has penetrated into the very depth of social – the fabric of social relations.
