Abstract

The article deals with the process of functioning of the urban subculture in the conditions of metabolization of the urban environment. It is proved that due to metabolic processes the city turns into a SBT-system, that is, a system of high complexity, arising on the basis of the integration of technical and technological, biochemical and social elements. It is emphasized that the most important process determining the dynamics of the urban metabolic subculture is breeding, which is the selection (both spontaneous and targeted) of subculture phenomena, their division into popular and not in demand by the urban community or its individual structures. It is carried out in three social situations: at the entrance (with the accumulation of information by the urban community, which will later be processed and implemented in the form of cultural artifacts and actions aimed at their production, reproduction and distribution); during the formation and evolution of subcultural clusters within the urban space; at the exit (with the division of subculture phenomena into promising, demanded by the urban community or individual groups within it, and “cultural garbage”). The factors that determine the specificity of subculture breeding in urban conditions, as well as the consequences of urban subculture metabolism are determined.
