Demonstrative Youth Consumption in the Context of the Expansion of the Information Society and Global Digitalization

Abstract
Through the prism of the expansion of the information society and global digitalization, the article examines the demonstrative consumption characteristic of modern Russian youth, mainly from the representatives of the middle class. In this regard, the demonstrative consumption of youth was analyzed in connection with general trends in the institutionalization of consumption as a necessary condition for the formation of identities necessary for full-fledged social maturation. It is noted that in the process of social maturity, in general rationalization of the youth consumer practices occurs, planning, saving are manifested there, and dependence on affective, toxic spending is reduced. In summary, the article concludes that as a result of the acquisition of a professional identity by young people associated with stable earnings, their consumer practices are more likely to correspond to the real situation in the class structure of society.
