Abstract

The article discusses the specifics of the formation of civic identity and patterns of social activity of Russian youth in the context of the expansion of global values of a consumer society. Attention is focused on the role of demonstrative consumption in the process of socialization of modern youth. It is noted that the institutionalization of consumption is a necessary component of the individualization of society, an important condition for the formation of patterns of conformist behavior, while at the same time bringing it into a state of significant social desolidarization. In conclusion, it is said that the social activity of Russian youth in the context of the emergence of a global society is shifting to a greater extent towards consumer and leisure practices.
