Abstract
Due to the fact that for the first time in the history of Russia, 2019 is called the Year of the Theater, the author of the article turned to the study of the history of the development of theaters in Rostov-on-Don and in the cities of the Rostov Region. Theatrical traditions and the current state of theaters in the Don region are studied.
