Abstract

This article discusses three problems: the definition of online education, the analysis of its advantages and disadvantages in terms of teaching methods, and the relevance of online education in the structural components of the educational process. The authors come to the conclusion that in the current discursive practices, there is an unjustifiably expanded use of the term online education, which is unreasonably understood as distance or e-learning. Meanwhile, online education is a fundamentally new educational model, which has long been established in the practice of commercial online training, forums and video conferences, and now, due to the situation with self-isolation, has become an organic part of higher professional education.
