Abstract

The article deals with the dynamics of the constructs of masculinity and femininity in the minds of the multi-ethnic population of the South of Russia. The empirical basis of the analysis is the results of re-comparative studies conducted in various types of subregions (traditionalist, transitional and modernized) in the period from 2004 to 2020. Empirical results show that in the South of Russia gender composition continues to be reproduced in the coordinates of the traditional definition of gender boundaries, which is especially noticeable among the population of the republics of the North Caucasus. However, women are focused on the decomposition of normative masculinity, in the construct of which gender-neutral parameters are more often included. And also in the Rostov region there is a tendency toward egalitarianization of gender boundaries.
