Abstract

The article asserts the necessity of keeping a multilevel approach to the analysis of social phenomena in modern sociology. It proposes to explore the possibilities that are inherent in such theoretical instrument as middle range theory. The necessity of such an approach has been continuously debated, this type of theorizing proved to be effective in local, country-related contexts. Modern social science has to explore complex societies in which many events can only be explained on a local level against the backdrop of concrete social and economic circumstances. Social theory has to deal with the process of deroutinization of social life while in many cases social events preserve their morphological similarity. The renaissance of middle range theories is also related to the embedment of «strong cultural program» in social science as a major factor that defines the state of society.
Keywords:
