Abstract
Objective of the study is: to justify the importance of sports in the life design of young people, taking into account its value component and accessibility for young people.
The methodological basis of the research are the results of the author's sociological research. The first study – a mass survey of Russian (N = 866) - was conducted online on the basis of data from the research company Mediascop and Brand Analytics on the socio-demographic characteristics of young people on the Internet. The second empirical study of the type of expert survey was conducted among socio-professional groups representing science and education, sports organizations and committees, public authorities and local self-government in the South of Russia (N=89).
Research results allowed us to confirm the research hypothesis that sports have a positive effect on the ability of young people to design and implement life projects. This relationship will be of practical importance only if young people become motivated and get the opportunity to play sports. The results of the sociological survey showed that young people have a desire for sports activities, but not all of them show it as a leading form of activity. This is explained by the presence of problems with the involvement of young people in sports. At the same time, the social conditionality of this was explained not so much by its value rejection, as by the presence of social obstacles to participation in sports activities.
Prospects of the study are associated with the testing of new empirical tools in the study of how young people can plan life practices based on their own resource potential, which is formed under the influence of sports.
