Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the features of the social consolidation of communities in the regions of the South of Russia, as well as to consider the reasons that hinder it in the subject field of sociology. Theoretical and methodological basis of the research is built on the basis of a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach, which includes the methodology of social topology, socio-psychological methods, methods of historical analysis, etc. Research results. A scheme of scientific analysis of sectoral factors of regional communities’ social consolidation in the South of Russia is proposed. Sociological studies show that socio-economic trouble, which has a very distinct regional dimension in Russia, is a significant factor in counteracting the consolidation of the regional space. Summarizing the analysis of the resource potential of social consolidation in the regional space of the South of Russia, it is important to note that the main conjunctive resources of social consolidation are sociocultural, including civilizational and spatial features of the region, the level of civic activity and state policy, the symbolic system of society, with its social memory and ideologems. Prospects for the study.  The proposed prospects for the study are based on an understanding of the features of the social consolidation of regional communities that are in a situation of transformation in all spheres of their life, as the dominant public sentiments that are important for the implementation of the social dispositions of Russians, aimed at assessing the present and forming scenarios for the future. Therefore, the priority long-term goal of the study are to determine the influence of social development trajectories of the regions of the South of Russia on the formation of the consolidating potential of Russian society, taking into account the sociocultural specifics of the Russian multinational people, on the one hand, and on the other, the social structure of Russian society.
