Abstract
Objective of the study is to identify similarities and differences in family values of the ethnic groups of the South of Russia (Armenians, Crimean Tatars, Russians, Ukrainians). Based on the similarities and differences in the family values of the ethnic groups under consideration, determine whether family values have a basis for the integration of the ethnic groups considered in the article.
The methodological basis of the research is the analysis of empirical indicators, the values of which were obtained through a mass questionnaire survey. Indicators are components of family values and are presented in the form of questions that reveal, firstly, the attitude of respondents to the principle of determining the dominant role in the family; secondly, the influence of the family on professional choice and career growth. Based on the analysis of the difference in distributions when answering questions, possible reasons for these differences are formulated based on the characteristics of the ethnic groups under consideration.
Research results. Firstly, it was revealed that in terms of determining the dominant role in the family, there are differences between ethnic groups along the line of "traditional/modern". On the “traditional” side are Crimean Tatars (the head of the family is determined by gender), on the “modern” side are Russians and Ukrainians (there should be equality in the family). Armenians occupy an intermediate position. Secondly, along the same line, differences were found in the influence of the family on professional choice. Family traditions partly influence the choice of profession among the Crimean Tatars to a greater extent, while among other ethnic groups, to a greater extent, they do not influence at all. Thirdly, it is typical for all ethnic groups that the family does not influence the career growth of its members. Thus, family values have limited possibilities for integration between the considered ethnic groups.
Prospects of the study. It is possible to conduct a special sociological study of family values of various ethnic groups in the South of Russia to identify their integrating potential.
