Abstract
Objective of the study is the analysis of the prospects for the development of sports and health-improving activities in the structure of recreation of modern youth in Russia.
The methodological basis of the research are the principles of institutional and activity approaches. The institutional approach makes it possible to determine not only the objective parameters of the sports functioning, but also subjective characteristics, including value orientations, attitudes of representatives of various social groups and strata aimed at sports and health-improving activities. The application of the activity approach as a methodological basis to study the problem of the formation of a health-improving sports culture makes it possible to reveal the mechanisms and patterns within the framework of the formation of the corresponding attitudes and orientations in the process of implementing sports and recreational activities.
Research results. To increase the level of youth involvement in systematic sports, it is necessary to “increase the number of sports facilities and entities” (45.4 %), “hold more sports events, competitions that are accessible (free) for young people” (48.9 %), “increase the number of free clubs and sections for sports” (46.4 %), “increase the salaries of sports teachers and coaches” (27.3 %), “strengthen the promotion of sports and a healthy lifestyle”. Similar goals and objectives for the development of sports are enshrined in the State Program of the Russian Federation “Development of Physical Culture and Sports”, which entered into force on January 1, 2022.
Prospects of the study are related to the prospects for organizing recreational activity of young people by state and municipal authorities, supporting mass sports that have a health-improving effect, as well as providing equal opportunities for physical education and sports in order to improve their own health and increase efficiency.
