Abstract
Objective of the study – sociological analysis of the state of patriotic values of students and the directions of their development in a higher educational institution.
The methodological basis of the research is based on the results of the author's quantitative and qualitative sociological studies of patriotism of students (2013, 2020, 2022); secondary analysis of other sociological studies on the development of patriotism of Russians and youth; documents and materials in the field of patriotic education at the university.
Research results. Research materials record the average level of development of patriotic values of students. For students, priority in understanding patriotism is given to the value, emotional components of patriotism. Universities today play an important role in the formation of patriotic values. The universities have formed an institutional system for the formation of youth patriotism, various patriotic activities are carried out, but the system for evaluating their effectiveness is not fully implemented.
Prospects of the study are connected with the development of a comprehensive program for the development of patriotism of students.
