Abstract

Objective of the study is to reveal the role of the movement of young naturalists in the formation of environmental education and enlightenment during the years of Soviet statehood.  The methodological basis of the research combines an institutional approach, historical method, document analysis, secondary analysis of sociological data. Research results. The review of outstanding educational and methodological practices is presented, the key stages of the development of the movement of young naturalists are highlighted in accordance with the criteria: institutional, ideological and educational-methodical. The main personalities who laid the foundations of children's and youth additional natural science education are given, their contribution to the formation of its basic models is indicated. Conclusions are drawn about the possibilities of applying methodological principles and the ideological component for the revival of the movement of young naturalists in modern Russian conditions.     Prospects of the study. The development of the research topic seems relevant in connection with the state and public demand for a combination of educational and educational practices, as well as the development of self-organization of children in the context of an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
