Abstract

Objective of the study is to consider the correlation between mathematical education and mathematical culture in terms of the relationship between two phenomena of modern society – education and culture. The methodological basis of the research. The analysis is based on the theory of vocational education; the theory of professional culture. The author uses the methods of analysis of the fundamental concepts, educational programs, work plans, as well as methodological guids.   Research results. The technology of formation of mathematical concepts, the place of mathematical concepts in the development of mathematical culture of the individual are revealed. It is emphasized that the purpose of education is to prepare a socialized person. Therefore, education turns into a mechanism for the development of internal culture and natural talents of the individual. Moreover, the formation of mathematical culture occurs. Prospects of the study. A noticeable lag between the educational process and mathematical science from the point of the methodology of teaching mathematics has been observed for a long time. Therefore there is a discrepancy between the understanding of the content of mathematical concepts in education and its essence in science itself. This point needs close attention. Mathematical education should turn from a mechanism for transferring experience to the younger generation into a system for the formation and development of mathematical culture. Therefore, mathematical education should be aimed at the improving its quality. The components of the quality include the results of study, the graduates’ socialization and the formation of civic consciousness. One of the main directions of the research perspective is to develop unified system for the formation of mathematical concepts, considering the specifics of the information technology era, cultural characteristics of national schools, etc. It will increase the level of an individual mathematical culture.
