Abstract

The article attempts, on the basis of empirical data, to justify the thesis about the relationship between assessments of the suitability of different types of risk indicators, such as the perception of personal security and distance of social distribution of risk, measured by vulnerability (personal, family, peer group, the territorial community and country as a whole) from certain social risks. The empirical base of the study is representative data from a sociological survey of the population of one of the regions of Central Russia, conducted by quota sampling. The purpose of the study was formulated as the study of quality of life, including attitudes to risk. The analysis showed that the majority of respondents do not feel a fear of physical, social and psychological risk, but about half of the respondents are afraid of environmental and physical risks. Respondents mostly assess risks and vulnerability from them at a remote distance of social distribution, in the scale of impact on the country as a whole, or region of residence. The share of those who consider themselves or their environment most vulnerable to social risks is relatively small.
