Interaction of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ministry of Defense of Russia at Present

Nowadays there is the reason to talk about the increasing public support of the Russian Orthodox Church and its great influence on the modern society, the state and the Armed Forces of Russia. The article analyzes the modern interaction between the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Russian Orthodox Church. In 2009 the Armed Forces established (in fact, restored) the chaplain service. At present the Orthodox Church is responsible for morality of the Russian army, which is essential for national security. Orthodox chaplains participate in the personnel training, long voyages, and other combat and training missions. The army gives new strength to the Orthodox traditions of the military service. The Russian Orthodox Church is eager to represent itself in the army as a spiritual, even ideological organization, its social and educational activities have a significant impact on the efficiency of the Armed Forces. The aim of the Russian Orthodox Church is to achieve spiritual superiority of the Russian army over its potential enemy.
