Abstract
This article presents the analysis of the eviction of a significant number of Jews outside Moscow at the beginning of the 1890s, in the first years of governing of Grand Prince Sergey Alexandrovich in Moscow. The author shows the insignificance of the governor-general’s role in the development of restrictive measures against the Moscow Jewish population. The legend that the Grand Prince was as anti-Semite was disproved using the basis of facts.
