Abstract
The article discusses the necessity of elaborating the political strategy of the Russian Federation in the post-Soviet area, which should be based on the national interests. The author classifies the state interests in the post-Soviet area according to different spheres: economics, security, defense and culture. It is also noted that Russia needs including the description of its national interests and the strategy regarding the post-Soviet area into the normative documents.
