Abstract

The author analyzes the main role of the OPEC in the international arena and the phenomena of the OPEC’s influence on the oil market and on the world politics and economy. The author highlights that due to the shale revolution in the North America, the importance of the OPEC is becoming lower, although its states-participants are still important political actors in the world politics. The author notes that in situation when the leverages of the influence on the oil prices are passing to USA, Russia faces with a new challenge, because the oil price reduction may undermine its financial stability.
