Abstract
The article is devoted to the important period of the Russian education – to the process of reforming of theological secondary school (the seminary education system) in 1860s. During the process of the seminaries’ reform in 1867 the hierarchy of spiritual and educational system has been revised, a special Education Committee has been established, the system of the seminary education has been transformed. Another attempts of transformations preceded this reform at beginning of the 1860s. The author examines the main directions of the reform activities, the specifics of the produced ideas and their contribution to the long-standing process of reformation of the Russian education. The role of D.A. Tolstoy in reforming of theological secondary school is noted.
