Abstract
This article analyzes the problems of the political and legal security of borders and border regions. The author substantiates the position that to reduce disparities in the development of border regions of the Russian Federation regions it is necessary to reflect its borderline status in the constitutions and charters of the subjects. Border regions of the Russian Federation should have a special status, have certain preferences, enshrined in law.
