Abstract
The article presents the findings of an empirical research focusing on participation in inter-ethnic conflict. The system of indicators allowed us to identify the significant drivers of conflict participation. Statistical logistic regression model was used. The author shows that active participation in conflict is conditioned by individual’s ethno-cultural characteristics, on the one hand; and individual’s attitude to current socio-economic and cultural environment, on the other. Inclination to join conflict activity is determined by negative attitude to institutions performance: ethnic and cultural policies, mass media functioning. It is suggested that conflict participation and ethnocentrism are part of a wider context of ethnic identity and its interplay with national identity in Russia.
