Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of the evolution of the Catholic Church social teachings in the context of globalization. The current status of the Catholic Church is characterized by the loss of its influence in Western countries and simultaneous increasing popularity in the third world countries. A landmark event in the history of the Catholic Church was the election of a new Pope, the Argentine cardinal Bergoglio. Modern Catholicism shows not only qualitative changes of the Christian socialism concept, but also the increased activity in the solution of mankind global problems, strengthening its influence as an actor in the world politics.
